Conehead

Sam got into a fight while we were on vacation. By the time we got home and finally took him to the vet his wound was REALLY infected. He was sedated and underwent surgery to scrape out dead tissue & drain his leg.  My poor guy!

We picked him up later that night and it has been hard so far. He has to wear a cone which isn't working out very well. The cone stays on till the stitches come out; that's in nine or ten more days (pray for our my sanity). He runs into walls, it's hard to eat and he cannot get very comfortable to sleep. AND he cannot go outside! We had to buy litter boxes. EW! Sam has claimed the bed as his healing place which works out fine except when it's bed time. It took me a good ten minutes to crawl into bed around him last night. I'm a major sucker for that cat already and now that he is sick he controls my every emotion.

My heart is breaking for my guy as I want nothing more than for him to be happy. Being a good cat mom I have helped out with his grooming routine; brushing him out then rubbing him down with a warm wet rag. He gets really crabby if his face is dirty since he cannot reach it. I also spent a good 30 minutes this morning (at 4am) scratching his neck and ears as he was clearly upset that he couldn't do this himself.

Yes I know he is JUST a cat and I'm sure several of you are rolling your eyes at me for this blog. But he is my cat. My big man. My little spoon & my cuddle bug. I would/will do ANYTHING for him. I'm that crazy cat lady.

---Just imagine how much I will love my son!---

You're such a good mama! I would have never thought about the warm rag-duh he can't lick any part of his body with a cone. Poor boy! You're doing good, and hopefully Dutch won't hold this over his head for too long!
